The Mayer am Pfarrplatz winery is widely known and famous. Since 1683 it has produced in Heiligenstadt the best Viennese wines – it's classic being the "Wiener Gemischten Satz vom Nussberg". This speciality, which is made from Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, is both harvested and vinified collectively. Characteristics of several expressive varieties are combined in it, giving it a unique aromatic.

On Vienna's best vineyards, the chalky Nussberg, the unique Alsegg vineyard and the barren Schenkenberg, varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are cultivated. They are all fascinating thanks to their elegance, quaffability and fruitiness.

Countless accolades and awards in national and international wine contests are testament to the high quality wine from Mayer am Pfarrplatz.

The Rote Haus looks reflectively over the city of Vienna: this idyllic residence gives the winery its name and adorns the unique Nussberg collection of vineyards. The wines originate 100 percent from this prime location in Vienna and require laborious manual labour on the part of the winegrower. Creamy and dense with sumptuous exoticism, this characterises the style of wines stored in large wooden barrels.

Aside from the unique location, what makes this winery a gem are the geographic and climatic conditions. The ground, the absolute southern aspect to the Danube, the microclimate moulded by the Wienerwald (Vienna woods) – the cool nights and warming air from the Pannonia area – lend the wine from Nußberg the spices, the exoticism and the minerally terroir notes.
